Who is not holding a showcase of their wares now days?  Well not to be outdone by the likes of Blizzard, Codemasters recently held their own showcase day.  Showing off Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and FUEL along with new details of other Codemasters games.

Codemasters showcased some of the star players from its 2009 portfolio at its San Francisco Gamers Day event, held Thursday 19th February. Featured titles included DiRT™2, FUEL™, Operation Flashpoint™: Dragon Rising, Jumpgate Evolution®, Overlord™II, Overlord™Dark Legend and Overlord™Minions.

First up was the sequel to the award-winning off-road racer DiRT.  Fans can expect to be rolling around in DiRT 2 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, PC, Nintendo DS and WII this coming September.

Codemasters say: Promising a thrilling off-roading experience with extreme sports attitude, DiRT™ 2 will take players on a World Tour to compete in aggressive race events in the most diverse and challenging real-world environments. Events will include edge-of-control canyon racing of Utah’s “Creek Trailblazer” event, the “Rawang Rally Run” along treacherous Malaysian rainforest tracks and the “Battersea Battle”, where night races are staged at the iconic London power station. The World Tour will take also racers to a massive Los Angeles sports stadium for an exhilarating event: the “Stadium King Shootout”. Located near Marina Del Ray, the LA Stadium will be transformed into an amphitheatre of racing for a fierce rally cross event. Featuring a peerless line-up of super-charged off-road speed machines, DiRT 2 will also come complete with full head-to-head competitive online play. Prepare for mud, gravel, dust and dirt too, this September.

Continuing the petrol-head theme, FUEL takes us on a post apocalyptic race across the largest ever racing environment ever created for a video game.  Created using satellite data from the most diverse geography America has to offer.

At the codemasters event a new gameplay video was shown for FUEL.  It showed off some of the game’s iconic locations, including the Utah salt-plains and the Grand Canyon, all rendered beautiful by Asobo Studios’ A.C.E. game engine.

FUEL arrives in May for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was wheeled out with new screenshots now available on the official website .  You can read more about this sequel to a seminal shooter here .

Codemasters are also stretching their genre wings, with the aid of developer NetDevil they are forging new IP in the Massively Multiplayer Online game arena.

Jumpgate Evolution is an action based MMO for the PC that promises exhilarating space combat on a vast scale.  Perhaps attempting to avoid taking on the more economy based EVE Online, Jumpgate Evolution is all about breath-taking visuals and twitch-based space combat.  Look for it to burst from a jumpgate sometime in June.

Finally it is still good to be bad, and Codemasters have confirmed their intention to saturate June with a flurry of titles under the Overlord banner.  Here is what they have planned:

OVERLORD™ TITLES FOR JUNE 2009
Heralding the return of the delightfully despotic Overlord and his Minion horde, three new Overlord titles are scheduled to ship this June.

* Overlord™II, the sequel to the original twisted fantasy action adventure, will see a new Overlord and a more powerful army of Minions take on the Glorious Empire, an advanced Romanesque nation, in a truly epic yet familiarly warped adventure. Now in development at Triumph Studios, Overlord II will be published for the PLAYSTATION®3 system, Xbox 360 and Games For Windows.

* Overlord™ Dark Legend is an original Overlord action adventure designed and developed exclusively for Wii. In a tale steeped in fairy tale lore with sinister, satirical twists, players take the role of a new younger Overlord. As he revels in command of the Minions – occasionally throttling the little blighters by vigorously shaking the Wii Remote – our trainee tyrant will be able to take his growing pains out on the local fairy tale inhabitants as he protects his castle and lands.

* Overlord™ Minions is an irresistible puzzle action game, designed exclusively for Nintendo DS that sees Giblet, Blaze, Stench, and Zap form an elite Minion squad. As the Overlord, players direct, command and combine the Minions in battle, pointing and sweeping them to attack enemies and solving puzzles to execute dastardly plans.
