Wii obliterates opposition in November

Your IT - Entertainment

The Nintendo Wii continues to set new sales records over rivals Microsoft and Sony.  Despite pinning hopes on overtaking Nintendo with Black Friday thanksgiving sales, both Microsoft and Sony have been routed again in the U.S.

I sees it, but I's don't believes it, Nintendo continue to lead the pack, increasing its sales lead over rivals, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

In the U.S. According to the NPD group, Nintendo doubled its own October sales to reach just over 2 million units shipped in November.

For the same month 836,000 Xbox 360's and 378,000 PlayStation 3's went home to U.S. Households.

"It was a stellar month," Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Reuters . "It's clear that the consumer demand is exceptionally strong."

But lack of stock still hangs like a millstone around the Nintendo sales glory.

"With all our activity and effort, we can't commit that the product will be available up until Christmas Day," Fils-Aime said. "We're in uncharted territories when it comes to demand."

Microsoft are still buoyant:"Despite the tough economic times, we recorded our largest November on record," said Xbox 360 product management director Aaron Greenberg. "We sold more consoles and more games in November than we've ever done before."

Microsoft's "Gears of War 2 " took the lead on the top ten best-selling games in November, selling 1.56 million units.

And over at Sony they are also happy with the 378,000 PS3's representing an over 100 percent increase in sales from the previous month.

The video game market continues to defy the financial crisis driven business world of today, with NPD quoting some US$2.9 billion in sales last month, a rise of 10 percent from the same month last year
