Xbox 360 construction in LEGO City

Your IT - Entertainment

If you like those strangely amusing and compelling Xbox games that feature LEGO versions of Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones and Batman then you'll love the Xbox 360 Gaming Zone that has just been built in the UK LEGOLAND theme park.

LEGOLAND in Windsor, just down the road from the castle where British monarchs go for a little R and R, is home to a staggering 55 million LEGO bricks. Throw in interactive rides and shows, the inevitable LEGO building workshops and even a driving school for 3 - 12 year olds, and you can see why the whole LEGO theme park thing works.

Now LEGOLAND has a new attraction, courtesy of Microsoft. The newly opened Xbox 360 Gaming Zone situated in the very heart of LEGO City promises to allow the whole family to get hands on with the LEGO series of games.

Created in conjunction with TT Games which was the gaming house behind the hugely successful and very family-friendly LEGO videogames, the new zone has a total of 17 high definition flat-screens with a variety of family video games running.

As well as the LEGO series, visitors can also compete in zany battles and races in Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, play as Shrek or Puss in Boots in the Shrek the Third game, and fight against the dark arts as Harry Potter in the Order of the Phoenix edition of that particular game.

Unveiled over the weekend by former All Saints singer and wife of Oasis front man Liam Gallagher, Nicole Appleton, the Xbox 360 Gaming Zone is a dedicated area in the theme park that enables kids and adults alike to get intimate with their favourite games and gaming characters.

Speaking during the launch of the new zone, Appleton said "I love the fact that the new games are so much fun for the whole family to enjoy and I am sure the new game zone at LEGOLAND will give even more people a chance to experience them."

The family theme is something that Neil Thompson from the Microsoft Entertainment Division also picked up on. "As a parent myself, I understand the need for strong social experiences that can be shared by parents and children. Helping parents protect their children in the digital entertainment world we all live in is important to me as a parent and Microsoft as a company."

Let's just hope that LEGOLAND has some spare consoles for when the inevitable Red Rings of Death spoil the fun...
