According to a throwaway line at the end of a press release, "SCEE will be launching a comprehensive film, TV and music download service at a later date."

It's already been more than three years since rumours started circulating that Sony was planning a PlayStation-specific download service, and there has been an expectation that it would include movies as well as music.

The company's Connect Music Store, which sold DRMed ATRAC content, was short lived and new devices will not be able to register to use purchased tracks after December 31, 2008. Sony has recommended customers burn their purchases onto audio CDs.
