Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Monday 7th July is Bungie Day, and to celebrate Xbox LIVE has a new Halo 3 multi player map called Cold Storage available to download for free. If that were not enough to get Halo 3 fans salivating, there are new gamer pics and dashboard themes as well for one day only...
Every year on July 7th, the developers of Halo 3 give something back to
the fans. This most often comes in the shape of some new playable
content, free downloads or similar. Bungie Day 2008 does not
disappoint, with a completely new multi player map called Cold Storage
hitting the Xbox LIVE marketplace.
Unlike the last major map releases, the bundle
known as the Legendary Map Pack, Cold Storage will cost a very good
value nothing at all. In fact, none of the new gamer pics nor the new
Xbox 360 Halo 3 dashboard theme will cost a penny.
Even the price of the Legendary Map Pack is coming down from 800
credits to 600 credits. That's a saving of around UKP £1.60 (AUD $3.30)
in real money.
Do not expect the download to be a painless experience though, at least
not if you are competing with the other 8 million or so Halo 3 players
around the world who will no doubt be trying to grab the free gamer
pics and dashboard theme. Not least because, according to Bungie they
are going to be available on this one day only!
It certainly looks like being a good one as well, inspired as Halo fans
might have already guessed, by the Halo:Combat Evolved map 'Chill Out'
and set in an abandoned research facility. The backstory being that
accidental contamination compromised the centre which now lies empty.
If you are just after the map itself, you might do better to wait a day or three. Screenshots to whet your appetite are already available of course. Or how about a video to get you prepared for what is to come? Additional Bungie Day goodies include a 48 hour
long seven player playlist in Halo 3’s Matchmaking system where you
will be able to roll back the years to 2001 and control retro Rockets,
Invis and Snipe weaponry.
