Japan console wars - PS3 catching Wii?

Ah, the Xbox 360, the American invader trying to sell consoles in a country home to the venerable Sony and Nintendo empires.

Traditionally, Microsoft hasn't done well in Japan at all, despite some funky advertising campaigns and real attempts at bringing out titles Japanese gamers would enjoy.

So no Japanese hardware sale story can leave out the Microsoft Xbox 360, which actually shifted 10,964 units during the same five week period!

This is obviously well down on its rivals, but actually not too bad for the region.

Looks like video gaming is a continuing healthy business in the land of the rising sun!
