Optus announces Australian iPhone

Your IT - Entertainment

Optus has joined Vodafone in announcing an Australian iPhone "later this year".

Australia's telcos seem to be competing to see which can issue the shortest iPhone announcement press release. Today's iPhone announcement from Optus reads;

Optus, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Globe to bring iPhone to the region

Sydney, 12 May 2008 – Optus, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Globe today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia later this year.

More information will be released at a later date.

The 39 word press release is even shorter than Vodafone's 56 word iPhone announcement issued last week. As the length of each press release seems to be determined by the number of countries it includes, Telstra is on track to win the award for the shortest iPhone announcement.
