Xbox 360 + PS3 = Wii in US

Your IT - Entertainment

March NPD sales are in and the supply woes seem to be over for Microsoft as the Xbox 360 creeps ahead of the PS3.  But nothing can touch the Wii

According to Microsoft, the aberration that was the January and February sales figures for the Xbox 360 has been rectified simply by solving the supply issues supposedly squeezing sales against their arch-rival Sony’s PlayStation 3.

March has seen the Xbox 360 sneak back ahead of the PS3 in the U.S.

Shifting 262,000 units put the Xbox 360 marginally in advance of the 257,000 PS3 but none can compare to the continuing might of the Nintendo Wii which out sold the combined efforts of its more fancied competitors by entering 721,000 U.S households during March

There is of course light at the end of this sales tragedy for both Microsoft and Sony with the impending release of Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 and PS3.  Could this be a chance to thumb their respective noses at Nintendo during the May sales period?

Other points of note from the March figures, courtesy of gamesspot saw Super Smash Bros. Brawl top the software charts:
