The near future exploits of the Tom Clancy franchise of video games is about to blast into aerial combat in Tom Clancy’s HAWX (High Altitude Warfare)
Ubisoft have announced the [southern] Spring 2008 release of Tom Clancy’s HAWX, giving PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners the chance to get a whiff of life as an elite combat pilot in the near future.
Set in 2012, the story begins as the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close; the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on private military companies (PMCs), elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accords further legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to serve in every aspect of military operations. While the benefits of such PMCs are apparent, growing concerns surrounding giving them too much power begin to mount.
"Tom Clancy's HAWX marks the next evolution of high altitude warfare in the Tom Clancy video game universe," said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. "We are thrilled to take to the skies and provide a new environment along with an extension of a familiar storyline from our other successful Tom Clancy franchises such as Ghost Recon Advanced
Warfighter."
Tom Clancy’s HAWX will be developed in Ubisof’s Bucharest studio.
