Wii Fit release date shapes up

Your IT - Entertainment

Already a Wii moving phenomenon in Japan, Nintendo announce that the Wii Fit balance board and fitness program will have us huffing and puffing in Australian households soon.

This May the 8th will see Australian living rooms transformed into either Gymnasiums, Yoga centres or funny looking human statue clinics, depending on how you view the usefulness of Nintendo’s next Wii peripheral.

The Wii Fit Balance Board promises a new gaming experience with 40 health and lifestyle exercises across four categories: balance games, yoga, muscle workouts and aerobic exercises.  Whether you’re doing a yoga pose or snowboarding down a slalom course, there should be an activity for everyone.

The balance games include soccer heading, ski jump, tightrope walk and bubble balance among others, and allow you to focus on your balance whilst having fun.

Other activities will test aerobic capabilities, with super hula hoop, advanced step and rhythm boxing.  Or slow the pace down with yoga poses and deep breathing exercising.

Boost ego and strength with the muscle workouts.  An on-screen instructor will attempt to tone and sculpt gaming bodies with exercises such as torso twists, arm and leg lifts rowing squats, or try one of the challenges such as the push-up challenge

Wii Fit and the included motion sensitive Wii Balance Board, work together with the Wii console to allow you to get a detailed analysis of your physical condition by analysing your BMI (Body Mass Index), and centre of gravity. After you have checked your BMI, you can do a simple balance test, and be assigned your Wii Fit Age. Now you are ready to trial any of the four categories.
