Australian Open hosts Wii Sports Scud shoot out

Your IT - Entertainment

As the Australian Open tennis finals reach their climax, Nintendo is taking over the big screen to have Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenny compete against tennis ace Mark Philippoussis and the Wii champion in Wii Sports tennis.

On the day I visited the Nintendo tent at the Australian Tennis Open, I took on all comers at Wii Sports tennis, knocking of four competent players in a row, until a steely eyed kid half my height lucked in a couple of shots to have me shunted out the door.

As such, it will not be me taking on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ hosts Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenny as they go up against the Scud himself Mark Philippoussis during the Sunday final of the big event itself.

Not exactly tech news, but a bit of fun anyway - from the press release; Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenny will compete against tennis ace Mark Philippoussis and the Wii champion in Wii Sports tennis.

The showdown will happen on the final day of the Australian Open, Sunday 27 January from 5:15pm, with the match appearing on the big screen in Garden Square.

Prior to the showdown, two lucky winners from the Wii Championships will compete on the big screen to see who the ultimate Wii Sports tennis champion is. The champion will then go on to play a doubles match teaming up with Philippoussis, against Kruger and McKenny.
