Microsoft preparing PS3 killing Ultimate Xbox 360?

Your IT - Entertainment

Kick the New Year off with a big gaming rumour, the HD-DVD drive equipped 320GB Ultimate Xbox 360 is being constructed in a Microsoft design dungeon as we speak.

As a parting shot at next weeks CES show in Las Vegas, the good money from Stuff Tv is on outgoing Microsoft Chairman, Bill Gates announcing the Ultimate Xbox 360.

Of course nobody actual knows what the specifications will be, or if it truly will exist, but it makes for good rumour grist.

Here is the current speculation specifications.

To go into the model mix of Xbox 360 line-up, with the Core, Premium and Elite, the Ultimate will boast a 320GB hard drive, 1080p HDMI connectivity  onboard Wi-Fi, HD audio output, cool-running 65nm hardware, and a silent running ventilation fan.

Release date for the Ultimate Xbox 360 model is speculated to be Q3 2008.

The rumour goes on to include Microsoft's Xbox IPTV service, which will be in full flight for the Ultimate’s release.  Something that the 320GB of hard drive goodness will be able to absorb.

Up against the 80GB Blu-Ray enabled PlayStation 3; it could mean a whole new round of Console Wars.  If you have been hanging out [still] to jump into the next generation of gaming consoles, at least wait another week.
