‘Tis the season, Nintendo have made some changes to the online experience of the Wii Shop channel as well as tweaking the Photo channel and releasing Pokémon Snap.
Nintendo are getting into the spirit of the season by adding a gift giving feature to the Wii Shop Channel.
This will allow Wii-ites the ability to give Virtual Console games to friends as a present. In doing so the gift can be personalized by attaching a Mii and a message.
A new version of the Photo Channel is also available. Downloaded from the Wii Software section of the shop, the new Photo Channel update includes:
- Option to customise the Photo Channel icon on the Wii Menu with any photograph you like, transferred from an SD card.
- New file format for background music played from an SD card. The previous format of MP3 has been replaced with AAC, which benefits from higher sound quality in the same file size.
- Shuffle play of background music during a slide show.
Finally the original N64 title Pokémon Snap hits the Virtual Console. Originally a hit on Nintendo 64, the Virtual Console version of Pokémon Snap has been enhanced to work with the Wii Message Board - so now you can share your favourite Pokémon pictures with friends. For 1000 points, you can be snapping pictures of your favourite multicoloured monsters straight away.
