id Software (Doom, Quake) have confirmed the Australian launch date of the Strogg infested Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
Coming to Australian retail shelves on September 28th, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars promises to bring the battles of the Earth based Global Defence Force (GDF) against the invading Strogg to a new level.
The Strogg are here to assimilate humans into their violent way of life, in a story line giving us the prequel to Quake 2.
The Strogg must be repelled through an objective-based multiplayer concept that may prove to be newbie friendly: ET:QW will allow players to drop into an online game, and be given a choice of objectives relevant to the current state of battle.
Choosing a mission will then allow players to go solo on an easy target, or build up to a more cooperative yet difficult objective. Either choice will be valid and if achieved can boost the allied sides overall standing.
Gamers choose to play as the human GDF or alien Strogg in one of five unique character classes. Employing an arsenal of weapons, vehicles and deployable armaments, players engage in an action-packed test of skill and coordinated teamwork through a series of combat objectives. Persistent character growth and achievements reward players for teamwork, while clearly defined mission and class objectives guide new players to meaningful contributions on the battlefield.
The PC version of ET:QW is being developed by Splash Damage whilst there are also teams developing the title for the Xbox 360 (Microsoft- Nerve Software) and PS3 (Activision Foster City)
