Sony, Sky will provide video on demand to PSP

Your IT - Entertainment

A joint venture between the Sky pay tv operation in the British Isles and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will bring video on demand to PlayStation Portables in the UK and Ireland, and later to the rest of Europe.

The plan is to combine Sony's expertise in handheld entertainment and the 2.3 million PSP installed base with Sky's expertise in entertainment aggregation.

"The two companies are already in discussions with entertainment content providers across Europe to facilitate future introduction of the service to European PSP owners," the partners said.

More details will be revealed on August 22.
