Qantas' Airbus A380 fleet, arriving later this year, will feature wireless connectivity throughout the aircraft plus RJ45 and PC power connections in all seats.

"Customers in all classes will also be able to stay connected with in seat email and internet access or using their personal laptops to connect to a wireless network," said Qantas executive general manager John Borghetti.

"Customers in all classes will also be able to stay connected with in seat email and internet access or using their personal laptops to connect to a wireless network," he added. In-seat phone and SMS access will also be available.

The company has not revealed how much it will charge for in-flight Internet or phone access, or the bandwidth that will be available.

Each seat will also feature a USB connection, though it is not exactly clear what it will be used for. Possibilities include the connection of personal media players such as iPods to take advantage of the larger seatback screens.

If you are happy to rely on the airline for entertainment, Qantas promises more than 100 on demand movies, 350 television selections, 500 audio CDs, 30 PC style games and a selection of audio books and radio channels.
