Blizzard have announced World of Warcraft is now supporting 9 million subscribers world wide

It was only January this year when WOW was hovering at 8 million active players .  Then the first expansion pack for the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Phenomena was released.

The Burning Crusade saw a leap in activity as fans hunkered down to the level grind of gaming in a whole new arena of the Warcraft world.

Now developer Blizzard has announced the topping of 9 million customers world wide with plans to further expand into China ( through a recent partnership with Chinese online publisher The9) which is sure to burgeon the WOW population even further.

“We’re thrilled that gamers around the world have continued to embrace World of Warcraft so enthusiastically,” said Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’ve worked hard to provide a compelling experience for our players, and we plan to continue updating the game with exciting new content for them to enjoy for many years to come.”
