Swimmer, Kieren Perkins, won two Olympic gold medals in the 1500m, the first in Barcelona in 1992 and the second in Atlanta 1996, as well as a silver medal in 2000 in Sydney. Making Perkins the first Australian male swimmer to medal at 3 consecutive Olympic Games. Perkins, a well known media personality, is a board member of Swimming Australia, an Executive Board member of the World Olympians Association and a board member of the Australian Sports Commission. Perkins was awarded an OAM in 1993 and spends countless hours supporting charity’s including Starlight Foundation where he is a board member. He is also listed by the National Trust as an Australian Living Treasure.
