Voted by the readers and staff at Edge gaming magazine, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 came out on top.
Obviously there was a tinge of nostalgia as the folk at Edge collated votes from "creatives working in the videogame industry" and "countless rounds of deliberation among the Edge editorial staff." When the ballot boxes were emptied, here where the top ten games of all time.
1. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)
2. Resident Evil 4 (Multi)
3. Super Mario 64 (N64)
4. Half-Life 2 (PC, Xbox)
5. Super Mario World (SNES)
6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
7. Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox, PC)
8. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
9. Tetris (Multi)
10. Super Metroid (SNES)
It is a good list, a little bit of old sprinkled with some new, but only one and a half PC games in the mix (the half being Halo). Surely
Deus Ex could have squeezed into the top ten somewhere. And what about all those relationship destroying ‘just one more turn’ games from Sid Meier,
Civilization etc.
And I am sure you have your own favourites,
The Ocarina of Time however deserves praise for a game that can transport players into the rich wonderful
Legend of Zelda world. More proof that modern day graphically wizardry is not the be all and end all of gaming enjoyment
