LucasArts envisions dark future with Fracture

Your IT - Entertainment

Al Gore has been telling us for years, now George Lucas brings us a virtual way to live in the world of climate change.  Welcome to Fracture.

There are some exciting projects developing within the labs of LucasArts, a new Star Wars game and a new Indiana Jones game all using new exciting technologies.  Players can expect a new level of environment physics and NPC AI with these titles.

Wednesday saw the unveiling of a bleak vision for the year 2161.  Fracture throws players into a battle raging between the Atlantic Alliance – a coalition of eastern American states amalgamated with several European countries, up against the Republic of Pacifica (Yah!), consisting of the western American half and some Asian nations.

Fracture is a First Person Shooter with players taking sides in a former USA divided by the climat change caused  ‘Great Flood’..

The unique part of this forthcoming game will be the aforementioned climate and environment.  Not only will players battle the enemy, but also earthquakes, tornadoes, cyclones and more, with weapons can inflict environmental damage upon the enemy.

Imagine if you will a grenade that can cause a tornado, or a rocket launcher that can burrow under your foes to cause a crater around them.  Or try raising a hill to give you literally the upper hand in the conflict.

Other Features include;
* Truly next-generation gameplay -- Groundbreaking terrain deformation allows players to reshape the battlefield on the fly with futuristic weaponry of the year 2161, allowing for unprecedented power, freedom and control.
* All new story and characters from the company that brought you Star Wars and Indiana Jones, as well as Mercenaries and Thrillville -- Players assume the role of Mason Briggs, a demolitions expert in the mighty Atlantic Alliance army and the next great action hero.
* Plausible future conflict -- As stem cell research continues to proliferate and spirals out of control, ideological differences over genetic enhancement place the player at the threshold of an epic battle of tomorrow between genetics vs. cybernetics as two powerful armies, with vastly differing tactics and advantages, square off. The battlefield will change forever.
