Perth IX under new ownership

Vocus has completed its acquisition of Perth IX, giving the company a data centre in the WA capital.

Communications provider Vocus has completed the acquisition of Perth IX, a Western Australian based data centre operator.

The acquisition will cost a minimum of $6.275 million in cash, increasing to a maximum of $7 million if the operation beats its estimates of fiscal 2012 performance. The purchase is being funded from Vocus's cash reserves.

The long established Perth CBD data centre has 86 customers, including carriers and ISPs.

Adam Gardner, general manager of Perth IX, will remain in charge of local operations.
