MicrOpay upgrade elevates Otis's access to payroll data

A thorough revamp of Otis Elevator's payroll systems is paying dividends.

Although Otis Elevator's Australasian business had been using Sage MicrOpay's Payroll manager since 1984, its five payroll departments were using different versions of the software. The result was a series of manual processes and the absence of centralised management and reporting of the payroll function.

A replacement system was clearly needed, and after a tender process the company selected Sage MicrOpay Meridian. Several modules beyond the basic package were installed, including New Zealand payroll, general ledger, report writer and employee self service.

"MicrOpay's Meridian solution was an easy choice," said Elizabeth Harrison, director human resources at Otis Elevators. "The user interface is extraordinarily easy to use for both payroll and casual system users alike and the in-built reporting functionality is very detailed."

Sage MicrOpay also provided implementation assistance, training and ongoing support. "The ongoing support has been excellent, said Ms Harrison. "The time invested by MicrOpay to understand our business and our unique requirements has been impressive and the service first class."

The new software provides HR and commercial managers with easy access to payroll data. "MicrOpay Meridian provides us with the tools to facilitate more comprehensive reporting and planning that will benefit all levels of the organisation," said Ms Harrison.
