NASA has just confirmed that the first spacewalk to fix a bad coolant pump will be delayed another 24 hours so that ground technicians, engineers, and flight controllers can further develop the procedures needed to accomplish the task of two Space Station astronauts.

Not to be outdone by recent Chinese and Indian adventures in space, the Brits have upped their game and launched four teddy bears wearing space suits to an altitude of just over 30 km.

The Shenzhou VII (Shenzhou-7) re-entry module parachuted safety back to Earth with its three taikonauts (Chinese astronauts) onboard after making history with the first Chinese spacewalk.

The state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Saturday, September 27, 2008, that China conducted its first extra-vehicular activity (EVA) beginning at 4:43 p.m. Beijing, China time (0843 UTC). The spacewalk is the first one conducted by China.

China announced on Thursday, September 25, 2008, that its third manned spacecraft was launched at 9:10 p.m. local time from its Jiuguan Satellite Launch Center.

Leland Melvin will use the robotic arm, and Rex Walheim and Stan Love will perform a spacewalk, all to move the European Columbus scientific laboratory out of the shuttle’s cargo hold and to its new position on the International Space Station (ISS).       

With the January 30, 2008 spacewalk still in progress, space-working astronauts outside the International Space Station have replaced a faulty motor with a backup one. And it looks promising for operating a solar array so that it will rotate and tilt toward the Sun to provide additional power for their orbiting home.
