Software testing services company, TestPro, has selected IBM’s smartcloud enterprise solution to increase the flexibility and timeliness of its IT service delivery.

Leading Australian managed services and cloud computing provider, Brennan IT, is bringing Microsoft Hyper-V to its cloud platform following the recent $1.5 million upgrade of its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform as it gears up to meet what it says is rising demand for its cloud services.

The Australian server market is looming as a battle of the giants in 2011, with the latest figures showing HP as the undisputed leader of the space in both units and revenue terms. However, IBM, which ranks only third in unit sales, is showing by far the strongest growth in revenue terms and is closing in on HP.

The Asia Pacific server market remained healthy throughout the second quarter of 2011, with year-on-year shipment growth of 25.6 percent and revenue up 26.1 percent compared to the same quarter last year. APAC had the strongest increase in server shipments, with the focus firmly on the Chinese market.

Despite interest in cloud computing models, one analyst group says that it’s unlikely that Australian and New Zealand enterprises and organisations will no longer buy servers, at least not in the foreseeable future.
