NEC, Microsoft to develop anonymous authentication for smartphone users
NEC has teamed up with Microsoft, France Telecom and eight other international institutions to provide enhanced privacy services for smartphones using public key cryptography and 'zero-knowledge proofs' to verify the access privileges of a smartphone user without directly identifying the user.

ICT industry plays key role delivering electronic health records
The Australian Information Industry Association says that the key role played by the organisation's members in bringing secure, accessible and affordable health care to all Australians through secure Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records (PCEHR) is now more clearly understood with the release of a major government report into electronic health records, tabled by the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee.

Australian home Internet users at risk from cyber threats
Canberra's Centre for Internet Safety has issued a warning that, despite around 80 per cent of Australian homes having internet access, it believes too few end users take the necessary steps to keep themselves safe online.
