Software company, Axe Group, has appointed a former Siemens manager as professional services director to head up its Axelerated solutions division.

Logica Australia has appointed Bill Richards as its chief client officer.

Bridge Point Communications has appointed Carmel Gray as an external director and company chair.

Logica has followed up its October 2009 survey the smart grid industry in Australia with new survey that shows significant progress in the last 12 months but identifies massive challenges for the energy sector in developing the more intimate customer relationships and developing the new business models that smart grids will engender.

New South Wales state-owned utility company, Eraring Energy, has renewed its IT services outsourcing contract with Logica for a further three years.

IT services provider,  Logica, has been selected by Melbourne’s metropolitan light rail operator, Yarra Trams to replace the company’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) platform, which Logica says will allow better monitor and control supply across the rail traction power network.

UK-based tech services outfit Logica has more than tripled the size of its Canberra operation as the company targets opportunities among mid-sized federal agencies breaking out of the large-scale, clustered outsourcing contracts that characterised the Howard years.

The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment has renewed its spatial data management contract with Logica for a further three years.

IT and business services vendor, Logica, has secured a three year outsourcing contract with aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, to deliver application management for document management, archiving, groupware and knowledge management in some of the company’s markets like Germany and France.
