Earlier this year publisher Activision announced the cancellation of all Guitar Hero and D.J. Hero projects leaving EA’s Rockband as the most obvious rhythm based video game franchise still with a heartbeat.  Well publisher Ubisoft has decided to take the microphone centre stage with a new IP known as Rocksmith, using real guitar’s as input to a video game.

Another couple of months and another Guitar Hero game, this time a more rock biased set list, special abilities for the on-screen rockers and a storyline confronts players of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

Not as accessible as its guitar orientated brethren, DJ Hero is still an oddly fun way to make believe you are musically talented.

Still strutting your way through the 85 tracks that are unlocked in Guitar Hero 5, soon there will be five new track packs to shred to.  Everything from classic rock to Wolfmother and Marilyn Manson are included.
