The ESA and Russia are experimenting with a simulated manned flight to Mars, called Mars 500, at the Institute of Biomedical Problems in Moscow. The mission is testing the ability of astronauts to cope with the isolation and stress of outer space.

Earthlike planet Corot-7b is being vaporized by its star

NASA astronomer Brian Jackson has presented information that the exosolar planet Corot-7b is vaporating due to its decreasing distance to its parent star. Its molten surface is so hot that the planet is slowly evaporating due to extreme temperatures of upwards of 1,980 degrees Celsius (3,600 degree Fahrenheit).
 

ESA oks Mars missions in 2016, 2018

Two missions within the ExoMars Programme have been approved by the Council of the European Space Agency (ESA). Both missions, the first orbiting about the planet and the second roving on the surface, will look for potential life on the planet.
