RealNetworks has given up its effort to sell the DVD backup product RealDVD and will refund its customers' money and pay the movie studios' legal expenses.

Microsoft has backed down on its demand that the whistleblower website Cryptome remove  the company's Global Criminal Compliance Handbook which the site had placed online on Wednesday.

A confidential Microsoft document that has been leaked on the internet appears to be causing the company some heartburn as it attempts to shut down distribution of the same.

Following up on its sweeping victory over Mac clonemaker Psystar on copyright infrigement, Apple has asked the court to permanently enjoin Psystar from selling its products.

A California court has rendered summary judgments in favor of Apple and against Mac clonemaker Psystar on several counts of copyright infringement. Several issues remain to be tried, though, and the ruling did not address damages.

RealNetworks has added a new countersuit in its battle with the movie industry over the company's RealDVD disc backup software.

Apple is being sued by OdioWorks, the operator of a wiki service, which claims the iPod and iPhone maker improperly asserted rights under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The allegedly "baseless" claim by Apple led to the removal of pages hosted by OdioWorks.

In the latest case touching on consumer rights vis a vis digital content, RealNetworks and the MPAA are set to argue over the legality of Real's RealDVD copying software.
