Chandra space telescope is twice as nice

NASA just announced that the Chandra X-ray Observatory is now ten years old, twice as long as it was expected to image the invisible universe. And, it is still discovering many exciting phenomena in this high-energy universe of black holes, dark matter, and other exotic objects.

Chandra hands us unusual image of pulsar B1509

An interesting image taken by NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory shows a hand-shaped nebula coming out of a young, tiny but powerfully rotating pulsar called PSR B1509-58, or B1509 for short.

Astrophysicists see dark energy slowing universe

For the first time, astronomers have seen through the eyes of the NASA Chandra space telescope what is being called “arrested development” of the universe (slowing of the expansion of the universe), which is caused specifically by the effects of dark energy.

Dark matter and ordinary matter separate as two massive galaxies collide

Astronomers identify that dark matter is different from ordinary matter when they pointed the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory toward two very large merging galaxies that are forming the galactic cluster MACSJ0025.4-1222.
