Microsoft this week issued a dozen security bulletins addressing 22 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Internet Information Service and Internet Explorer. The company also released a so-called non-security update that has everything to do with security.

Another company has reported strong growth in Asia Pacific. Check Point saw 25% year-on-year worldwide revenue growth, but Asia Pacific operations recorded a solid 40% jump.

The Pacific region has been a growth area for Citrix, with revenue up 21%.  The company didn't fare so well in the Americas or EMEA, but still saw growth.

The science publications organization Scientific American has listed what it considers the top 10 science stories for 2009. They range from the collision of protons and a flu epidemic, to a world conference on climate. The SciAm slideshow highlights these major science stories in the year 2009.
