Logica Secures Three Year Contract With The National Health and Medical Research Council The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has awarded Logica, a leading IT and business services company, a contract over three years for the provision of ICT services, infrastructure and support. Logica will provide ICT services and support for the NHMRC’s staff located in Canberra and Melbourne working at the National Institute of Clinical Studies. It will also support the NHMRC’s requirements for back office infrastructure services for remote staff. The NHMRC, Australia's peak body for supporting health and medical research, sought to contract an IT service provider in advance of the expiry of the organisation’s service level agreement with the Department of Health and Ageing.
“NHMRC is an independent statutory agency, and we need to procure services specific to our requirements and separate from the Department of Health and Ageing,” said Susan Bone, Director – IT Services, National Health & Medical Research Council.
The transition project involves the establishment of new processes and the transfer to Logica of existing services and support from the Department of Health and Ageing’s incumbent service provider. Logica will implement new infrastructure, including a scalable and secure gateway; data networks infrastructure and provide service desk establishment, service management; security management, and desktop, server, and network support.
In addition to providing ICT Services, Logica will be tasked with implementing ICT infrastructure to support the organisation’s extensive grants management program. Project grants support individual researchers and research teams to conduct the highest quality research across all fields of health and medical research on researcher initiated projects.
“We selected Logica based on value for money, proactive relationship management, and strong methodology and technical expertise,” said Susan Bone.
The decision to choose Logica follows an intensive tender process conducted by the NHMRC according to Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines.
Colin Holgate, Chief Executive Officer, Logica, Australia said, “The strategy we put in place to underpin our services with strong service management methodologies is now reaping benefits in the government outsourcing market. Our services are aimed to be flexible and transparently-priced to support the goals of NHMRC, while reducing costs and improving efficiency of services. We look forward to a long term and mutually rewarding relationship with NHMRC.”
