Sterling Commerce Announces Sterling Integrator 5.0

Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) company, today announced Sterling Integrator 5.0 (formerly Gentran Integration Suite), the next generation of its market-leading, flexible integration solution. The new solution will enable companies to gain a competitive advantage by ensuring their business processes are automated, streamlined, integrated and coordinated with those of their business partners.

Sterling Integrator 5.0 has several enhancements, including new communications and security capabilities, to ensure that companies can support the various requirements of their partners, and maximise the benefits of business-to-business (B2B) transactions without compromising their corporate security. It also adds Sterling Community Manager, a new capability that reduces the cost, resources, and time involved in on-boarding and managing large and diverse trading partner communities.

Sterling Integrator enables companies to seamlessly orchestrate global supply chains and partner communities, despite differences in partner size, location and technology usage. Sterling Commerce expands those capabilities with the introduction of Sterling Community Manager, an application that helps companies reliably on-board, expand and manage their partner communities more quickly and accurately, and with fewer resources. To expedite the on-boarding process, it offers standardised, out-of-the box on-boarding programs for common B2B integration scenarios, as well as partner self-provisioning capabilities that enable partners to respond to the questionnaires remotely via the Web. Traditional on-boarding processes add new trading partners one at a time. Sterling Community Manager introduces a multi-partner on-boarding process that enables companies to on-board and manage a large number of partners at the same time through a single campaign. Once partners are connected, Sterling Community Manager provides visibility into partner interactions to gain efficiencies and continuous improvements.

“Forward-looking companies are deploying B2B technologies to do more than just automate or eliminate manual processes. They are using them to gain greater visibility and insight into their business to create a sustainable competitive advantage,” said Chris Johnson, global vice president, B2B Collaboration, at Sterling Commerce. “With this new version of Sterling Integrator and Sterling Community Manager, Sterling Commerce is extending its industry leadership with this very flexible and adaptable solution to enable companies to transform the way they integrate within their enterprises and achieve 100 percent partner enablement.”

Through its powerful enterprise and B2B integration capabilities, Sterling Integrator enables companies to orchestrate business processes and manage high-volume electronic message exchange, complex routing, translation, and flexible interaction with multiple internal systems and external business partners. Sterling Integrator 5.0 adds several enhancements to its communications and security capabilities. It has added an enhanced web services stack and support for newer communications protocols such as IPv6, AS3 and OFTP v2.0. In its on-going efforts to support the highest levels of security, Sterling Integrator has extended its secure sockets layer (SSL) support and further enhanced its password encryption and certificate handling.

Sterling Integrator is part of Sterling Business Integration Suite, a complete solution for all integration needs, inside and outside the enterprise, which also was announced today.
