The 2008 WiMAX Distinction Awards honour the innovations and achievements of the companies who were able to demonstrate a commitment to innovation in the WiMAX space. Winners were chosen by members of the TMC editorial staff among numerous outstanding case studies presenting the products and services those companies have developed and deployed in the WiMAX area over the past year.
Working in conjunction with Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA-DM) compliant servers, the Bridgewater® solution recognises when subscribers and devices are on the network to facilitate seamless provisioning and firmware updates over the air, thereby reducing service introduction costs and enabling immediate subscriber access to WiMAX services. The Bridgewater solution features a real-time subscriber data management capability which can share dynamic data such as location, presence, IP address, roaming status, and registration status with OMA-DM compliant device management platforms. This dynamic subscriber context enables the device management platform to configure and upgrade the device with a zero-touch operation for both new and existing subscribers.
“This 2008 WiMAX Distinction Award acknowledges Bridgewater Systems’ commitment to innovate and address the most complex challenges that WiMAX service providers face as they prepare for commercial launch,” said David Brooks, managing director for APAC, Bridgewater Systems. “Over-the-air provisioning is a key service model for WiMAX service providers who want to introduce light touch services based on open access to accelerate subscriber acquisition, and ensure a high quality user experience in 4G networks.”
Bridgewater is currently implementing this solution with a number of WiMAX service providers.
Winners of the 2008 WiMAX Distinction Award will be published in the July 2008 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine and on TMCnet.
