Wizz Communications announces new transmission site at Parramatta NSW

Wizz Communications expands the availability of its licensed and un-licensed microwave services with the launch of a new transmission site in Paramatta NSW.

Wizz Communications, the wholesale provider of licensed and unlicensed Microwave access services has announced today that they have extended the geographical availability of their services. The new transmission site in Sydney’s second CBD, Parramatta, enables Wizz’s partners to deploy services in a 30Kms radius from the new transmission site. Wizz will be ready to provision services in October 2007.

This demand led expansion of the network effectively doubles Wizz’s physical coverage in the Sydney Metropolitan district, more importantly these areas are often poorly provided for by terrestrial services. Businesses in these areas will now be able to access high quality scalable bandwidth.

‘The volume of opportunity for the channel is significant. The addition of our Parramatta node means that Wizz’s wholesale partners can now offer high speed and high quality bandwidth in areas with a dense concentration of business users that until now have been under serviced in terms of bandwidth or service quality. The demand from partners has been tremendous and we are delighted to be able to offer services over a much wider area.’ Says Ellis Spooner, recently appointed Sales & Marketing Manager for Wizz Communications.

Andrew Maclaren, Director of Wizz Communications says ‘Historically the bonding of services would be the only way to deliver significant bandwidth in these areas, incurring the inherent costs and challenges of complex solutions. Now our partners can respond more effectively because Wizz can quickly and affordably deploy Ethernet services up to 1Gbps with service levels that match fibre. Our services provide a solid foundation for real time applications and IT services that businesses want to use today.’

Further expansion in the Wizz network is planned this year, increasing coverage in both Melbourne and Brisbane metro areas. Wizz’s extended Sydney metro coverage area is shown below
