NASA's space shuttle Endeavour has departed the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and is heading to Austin, Texas, for its final destination at the California Science Center. See the video of how it will be transported the last quarter mile to its final home.

Endeavour is flying to California via its 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA). It departed Ellington Field at around 7 a.m. local time on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Ellington Field is just north of the Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake City, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

It will make low flybys of Clear Lake City and the Johnson Space Center before heading northwest for a pass over Houston.

It will then make a low fly over of downtown Austin, near the Texas State Capitol Building between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. The YouTube video highlighting this event is found at "Shuttle Endeavour Will Fly Over Austin".

A fuel stop is planned for Biggs Army Air Field in El Paso later in the morning. After the stop, the SCA/Endeavour will make low-level flybys of the White Sands Missile Range and the White Sands Test Facility in New Mexico.

In honor of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords the pair will also fly over Tucson, Arizona, before heading to California.

Arrival at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base is scheduled for about noon local time. The pair will then take off on Friday morning for a flyby to Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Later in the morning it will fly over NASA's Ames Research Center, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

From there, it will head to the Los Angeles Area. Landing at the Los Angeles International Airport is scheduled for about noon local time on Friday.

Page two concludes with the video of the preparation for the Octoberf 13, 2012, hauling of the shuttle by a Toyota Tundra.
