Santa's helpers answer calls on Christmas Eve 2011

Science - Space

Employees and volunteers at NORAD will be manning the phones on Christmas Eve 2011 as people all over the world rely on these people to tell them 'Where is Santa Claus?'

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is Santa's control center south of his main headquarters on the top of the world.

On Christmas Eve each year since 1955, employees and volunteers answer telephone calls from children and adults young in heart all over the world.

The phone lines are open beginning at 4 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time [MST]) in Colorado, U.S.A. (the location of NORAD) on the morning of Christmas Eve.

In addition to these telephone calls, NORAD also provides its NORAD Tracks Santa website.

The telephone number for NORAD on Christmas Eve is 877-HI-NORAD (877-446-6723) or 719-556-5211.

The lines stay open until 3 a.m. MST on Christmas Day (December 25, 2011).

Merry Christmas in 2011, and Happy New Year in 2012.
