A photo montage of the Earth from the perspective of the crewmembers at the International Space Station (ISS) has been created in the form of an one-minute video.

James Drake, an American science teacher, created this video from 600 photographs he found in a collection called 'Gateway to Astronomy Photograph of Earth,' which is available to the public at the NASA Johnson Space Center, in Houston, Texas.

Astronauts took all the photographs in the collection as they stayed on the ISS, and as the space station orbited above the Earth.

Drake used Virtualdub to compile his collection of photos, which is a video capture/processing utility.

The video starts it journey around Earth over the Pacific Ocean and continues through North America and South America in darkness.

It picks up Antarctica just before sunrise.

According to the excerpt from the YouTube video, the video then shows the following features (in order): 'Vancouver Island, Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Phoenix.'
