Obama orders pizza but gets connected to shuttle, ISS crew

Science - Space

President Barack Obama made a telephone call to the International Space Station and the space shuttle Atlantis on Friday, July 15, 2011. He joked that he was actually trying to order out for pizza.

During his call to the six ISS crew members and the four STS-135 space shuttle members, Obama praised the final shuttle mission and everyone involved in the space program.

President Obama stated that the final shuttle mission "ushers in an exciting new era to push the frontiers of space exploration and human spaceflight."

To view the video of the shuttle and station crews as they spoke to the U.S. president, please go to: http://go.nasa.gov/oFXKIV

Although you won't see President Obama on the video, you will get a glimpse of him while on the phone to the STS-135 and ISS crewmembers on the following website: http://twitpic.com/5qm5ew

The website states: 'President Barack Obama speaks with the crews of STS135 and the ISS from the Oval Office at the White House.'

The International Space Station is truly an international venture, as Obama's telephone call showed with crew members on board the ISS from the United States, Russia, and Japan.

But, I wonder if the president ever got his call through for the pizza?
