Soyuz TMA-18 blasts off 4.2.2010

The Russian Soyuz TMA-18 spacecraft was launched at 0404 GMT on April 2, 2010, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. One U.S. astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts were onboard for their two-day journey to the International Space Station (ISS).

 

 


The local (Kazakhstan) time for the TMA-18 launch was 10:04 a.m. The Baikonur Cosmodrome is located in the Central Asian desert.

The spacecraft was lifted into space with a Soyuz-FG launch vehicle.

U.S. astronaut Tracy Caldwell-Dyson and Russian cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Mikhail Korniyenko are the three crewmembers of the TMA-18 spacecraft.

The three crewmembers will become members of the ISS Expedition 23 crew upon their arrival at the Space Station.

The Soyuz TMA-18 mission is the 105th manned flight of a Soyuz spacecraft.
