To visually describe the successful
“extreme makeover” of Hubble, Senator Mikulski unveiled images recently taken by Hubble at the NASA ceremony.
The complete series of the images are found at “
Images from Refurbished Hubble.”

One image is of the Planetary Nebula NGC 6302 (sometimes commonly called the Butterfly Nebula), which is a bipolar planetary nebula (like two wings of a butterfly) within the constellation Scorpius.
NGC 6302 is described on the NASA website as a celestial object that
“looks like a delicate butterfly. But it is far from serene.”
The shape that looks like butterfly wings is really
“... rolling cauldrons of gas heated to more than 35,000 degrees Fahrenheit.” [or 19,430 degrees Celsius]
Many more equally exciting and dramatic images of our universe appear on this NASA website.
Take a look and be amazed!
