The much-awaited, much-anticipated film Star Trek is approaching its launch date of May 7-8, 2009 as new Starfleet Academy members James Tiberius Kirk and his U.S.S. Enterprise crew battle Romulans who are attempting to destroy both Earth and Vulcan. I’m ready to be transported to my local theatre!
The film will be released on May 7 in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe (with advance screenings in North America), while the official movie release in North America is scheduled one day later, on May 8.
According to
Hollywood.com, the premise of the movie is:
“The story of a young crew’s maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals."

New York Daily News review. He states in his May 5, 2009 headlines,
“J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' is a stellar gem of a film: Captain Kirk, Spock will live long and prosper.”
Neumaier gives the movie “5 stars”—no doubt for Shatner (“Kirk”), Nimoy (“Spock”), Kelley (“Bones”), Doohan (“Scotty”), Nichols (“Uhura”), Takei (“Sulu”), and Koenig (“Chekov”)
