In fact a blogger for Discover magazine states in the report “
ISS Node 3: Colbert clause ” that
“I am getting swamped with notes from folks saying that the new node to be put on ISS next year will be named "Colbert"…. But it’s not that simple.”
The voting is now closed as the NASA website “
Help NASA Name Node 3 ” indicates--voting stopped on March 20th.
In all, 1,190,437 voters participated in the contest. Of only the pre-selected entries, Serenity got 70% of the votes, Legacy 13%, Earthrise 9%, and Venture 8%.
However, the top ten write-in votes were (in order of highest number of votes) are: Colbert, MyYearBook, Gaia, Xenu, SocialVibe, Buddy, Ubuntu, Tranquility, Synergy, and Vision.
However, NASA has rules for this contest (as any contest would naturally have). Their ace up their sleeve, as it is.
Please take special note of Rule Number 4.
The
five NASA rules are:

Participating in this poll, either by picking one of the candidate names or submitting your own suggested name, constitutes your express acceptance of the following conditions:
1. No prizes, awards, or any other type of recognition will be given to any entrant by NASA.
2. Any number of entries are allowed, up to one vote per user per day. NASA reserves the right to curtail abusive activity, including but not limited to, automated voting, denial of service attempts, disrupting, harming, tampering with, or maliciously interfering with NASA’s web sites and the like, by suspending the perpetrator’s participation in the contest.
3. The contest is open to anyone. Registration is not required in order to vote. NASA will not collect any personally-identifiable or private information associated with any participant.
4. NASA will take into consideration the results of the voting. Such name may not necessarily be one which is on the list of voted-on candidate names. NASA’s decision shall be deemed final.
