For additional information on the LER, along with a photograph of the lunar vehicle, go to NASA’s website “
Next Generation Rover For Lunar Exploration Driving New Tech Here On Earth.”
The trip down Pennsylvania Avenue will give Gernhardt a chance to maneuver the lunar vehicle, which has the ability to move its six pairs of wheels in any combination of forward and sideways motions.
And, NASA may need the extra-maneuverability of the lunar rover in order to negociate the political arena in Washington, D.C. Check out the rest of this
iTWire story for more on the uncertain future for NASA and its leadership.
Athough the trip in Washington, D.C. will be pretty smooth, this new lunar rover has the ability to move over rough terrain as that is found on the Moon.
During the parade NASA will video the event from a camera mounted on the lunar rover. A member of the lunar rover team will comment about the activities seen on the live NASA News Twitter feed.
Currently, NASA photographers and videographers will document the activities involving the space agency on NASA’s website.
The video will be seen on the
NASA News Twitter feed and other agency Twitter feeds.
Page three talks about the current situation between the Obama Transition Team and
Mike Griffin and NASA, which is not exactly on the best of terms.
