As stated earlier, IYA is a global celebration of astronomy throughout the year 2009.

For instance, the country of South Africa has a website for the event.

Organizations such as the Centro de Astrofísica da Universidade do Porto (CAUP) and the  European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO) also have websites for the event.
