Sally Rides’ biography from NASA is found at: “Sally K. Ride (Ph.D.), NASA Astronaut (former).
Ride left NASA in 1987, but did not retire until 1997, to work at the Stanford University Center of International Security and Arms Control.
Two years later, she became a professor of physics at the University of California at San Diego, specializing in research on the theory of non-linear beam-wave interactions Ride also became the director of the California Space Institute at that time.

She is currently the president and chief executive officer of Sally Ride Science, an organization dedicated to making science entertaining to students, along with making quality programs and products that entertain, educate, and inspire our young generation. Ride founded the company in 2001.
The company states it is dedicated, “… to supporting girls’ and boys’ interests in science, math and technology. We believe that when children are encouraged to pursue their interests they are inspired to think about their futures, and are better prepared to pursue a wide range of exciting opportunities in high school, college and beyond.”
