Delayed slightly by weather, Endeavour lands safely

Science - Space

Despite a delay of approximately 90 minutes caused by cloud over Florida, space shuttle Endeavour has landed safely at Kennedy Space Center.

The delay resulted in an unusual night-time landing for the shuttle, but that provided a degree of symmetry as its launch also took place in darkness.

Endeavour's 16-day STS-123 mission to the International Space Station included the installation of the first part of the Japanese Kibo laboratory and of the Canadian Dextre two-armed robotic system.

The ISS is now over two-thirds complete. The next shuttle mission, scheduled for late May, will see Discovery deliver the main section of Kibo.
