Atlantis and STS-117 cleared to separate from ISS Tuesday

NASA’s Space Shuttle Atlantis and its STS-117 crew are scheduled to undock from the ISS at 10:42 a.m. EDT (14:42 GMT) on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

After undocking, the Space Shuttle Atlantis will perform a series of fly-around maneuvers beginning at 11:07 a.m. EDT, with a final distancing maneuver (or separation) from the ISS at 12:30 p.m.

The OBSS (orbiter boom sensor system) unberth occurs at 12:58 p.m. The OBSS was developed in response to the Shuttle Columbia disaster. It is unberthed to make an inspection of the shuttle for damage. Berthing of the OBSS occurs approximately 3.5 hours later.

The landing of the STS-117 crew and the Space Shuttle Atlantis at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, after their 13-day mission in space, is scheduled for June 21, 2007, at 1:54 p.m. EDT (17:54 GMT). NASA TV will also cover the return of the seven astronauts and their orbiter Atlantis.
