The ISS Expedition 14 crew is expected to undock from the space station at 6:21 a.m. EDT on Friday, April 20, with a landing in north central Kazakhstan at 9:36 a.m. on that same day.
Interest in the mission has picked up with the launch of the fifth space tourist Charles Simonyi, former software developer at the fledgling Microsoft. In addition, his friend Martha Stewart has already visited her friend at the Russian spaceport, supporting his visit to outer space and providing him and his fellow cosmonauts with a gourmet meal of duck breast confit, shredded chicken parmentier, rice pudding with candied fruit, apple fondant pieces, and semolina cake with dried apricots.
Space—it’s not as rough as it used to be with Tang orange drink and concentrated tubes of food! The meal will be in celebration of Cosmonauts’ Day, which is celebrated each year in Russia on April 12.
Simonyi, 58 years of age, is ranked as one of the 400 richest U.S. citizens by Forbes Magazine, while Stewart, 65 years of age, ranks 3rd on Forbes list of the twenty wealthiest women in the United States. Simonyi paid somewhere between $20 and $25 million for the trip to outer space and the space station.
