Ariane launch succeeds after glitch

Science - Space

Arianespace has successfully put a pair of satellites into orbit following Saturday's aborted takeoff from Kourou, French Guyana.

A problem in the launchpad water deluge system meant the mission had to be delayed for 24 hours.

The Ariane-5 rocket boosted Insat 5A (an Indian communications satellite that will be used largely for direct-to-home TV broadcasting) and Skynet 5A (a British military communications satellite) into orbit.

Arianespace expects at least five more launches during 2007.
